THE only work of opera by one of the world’s greatest composers will be brought to life in all of its triumphant glory in Prestatyn.
The Royal opera House’ production of Beethoven’s Fidelio screens live to the Scala on Tuesday, March 17 at 7.15pm.
In this new production, set during the French Revolution, opera star Jonas Kaufmann plays the political prisoner Florestan, and Lise Davidsen his wife Leonore - disguised as Fidelio - who daringly sets out to rescue him.
Set in strong counterpoint are the ingredients of domestic intrigue, determined love and the cruelty of an oppressive regime with a transcendent score which includes the famous Act I Quartet, the Prisoners Chorus and Florestans impassioned Act II cry in the darkness and vision of hope.
Tickets are £16, to book visit prestatyn.merlincinemas.co.uk.
