LIFE as we know is full of ups and downs. Good times and bad times. It is important therefore that we take time to celebrate the little things and the big things. Enjoy them.

This year I personally have a few things to celebrate and if you will allow me, I would love to share these with you.

I get many lovely messages from people telling me they enjoy my column and I feel very humbled when I hear this. It is a privilege to be able to share my experiences and advice on living a happy and positive life.

This year I will be 60! I never thought I would get to this age. I feel blessed.

Due to my mindfulness training and more recently my training in gratitude and realisation I truly try to live a happy, full and kind life as much as I can.

I’m not perfect, I make mistakes, but I do try my best. Because of this I am planning to party throughout this year. Not everyone is blessed to make this age.

Also in 2024 I am celebrating 10 years of being in business with Genius PR & Events Ltd. During the last 10 years I have worked hard to bring the best comedy and entertainment to Somerset.

I run several regular comedy nights and clubs. I have built up a fabulous relationship with the comedy industry, acts and management agencies.

I have a reputation for looking after acts and treating them well. It is brilliant that so many funny people want to come down to Somerset and bring big laughs with them to share with our community.

When I started Genius in 2014 my plan was to make Somerset the Edinburgh of the South.

It has taken 10 years of hard work in the comedy industry while also building great relationships with theatres, arts centres, breweries, pubs, hotels, leisure attractions etc.

At the same time I have worked hard building relationships with our councils, chambers of commerce and local businesses. I love networking and meeting people.

I love helping people and new businesses. Introducing them to other local established businesses who they can collaborate and offer advice and services in a mutually beneficial way.

I bought a web domain 10 years ago when I started Genius. Every year I have paid to keep the domain and every year I have decided not this year, not at the moment.

When the renewal came up last year I looked at the dates and thought, business is 10 and I will be 60. If I don’t take this leap of faith and commit to do it now I never would!

I am super chuffed to announce that I have started a new business – Somerset Comedy Festival CIC (a not-for-profit organisation).

I have an awesome board of directors and fabulous group of volunteers to help me arrange Somerset Comedy Festival this JULY across the whole of Somerset!

There will be a formal press release shortly and opportunities to volunteer and more importantly to sponsor this incredible festival.

I am finally realising my dreams to make Somerset the Edinburgh of the South! Look on the social media platforms for @SomersetComFest.

See you again in two weeks! Until then – Stay Safe and Be Kind.
