Welcome to the Sherborne Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) page which covers both the town centre and our far-reaching rural communities.

The rural section covers various parish council areas:
Bishops Caundle, Bradford Abbas, Cam Vale (Holnest, Leweston, Lillington & Longburton), Chetnole & Stockwood, Folke, Alweston & Bishops Down, Holwell, Leigh, Queen Thorne (Nether Compton, Over Compton, Sandford Orcas & Trent), Thornhackett (Beer Hackett & Thornford), Yeo Head (Castleton, Goathill, Oborne & Poyntington) and Yetminster & Ryme Intrinseca.

The NPT work alongside partner agencies and the local community to ensure Sherborne remains a safe place to live, work and visit. Working in partnership means we can tackle the issues that most affect local people and the NPT have 4 main theme based priorities across Sherborne (& West Dorset), which are:

1. We will actively engage with the vulnerable within our community who are victims of scams and fraudulent activity. We are working hard to raise awareness of current crime trends and provide safeguarding provision for those who have been victims.

2. We will proactively target organised drug supply by developing and acting on community intelligence. In conjunction with the County Lines Team, we will carry out regular safe and well checks on vulnerable members of the community to help protect them from the risks that county lines drugs suppliers pose.

3. We will provide targeted patrols based on current reports of ASB. Working with partner agencies, we aim to reduce ASB and we committed to providing a visible policing presence to deter, prevent, educate and reduce ASB within your communities.

4. We are committed to working closely with the rural community and our own Rural Crime Team to deter, prevent, educate and reduce Agricultural Crime, Equine Crime, Wildlife Crime and Heritage Crime. We will assist the Rural Crime Team with dedicated proactive monthly operations to target those who offend in the rural community.

Please see the Local Priorities section below for more specific and localised issues in your area that we are currently working on.

The NPT believe it’s vitally important that we are accessible to the communities we police. As such, we attend many local events and meetings where you can speak with us face-to-face, as well as regularly updating our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) and arranging individual contact when required.

To come and speak with us at a local event or meeting, please see the Get Involved section below for further details. You can follow us on our local social media accounts by using the relevant links on the right hand side of this page.

If you need to report something or wish to speak to a local officer directly, you can visit the "Contact Us / Do It Online" section of the main Dorset website. For those who are unable to use the internet, you can still call 101 for non-emergencies and 999 should always be called for an emergency where a crime is in progress or life is in danger.
