A WOMAN who fell into a disused quarry was rescued by firefighters and ambulance staff.

The incident happened in the Ham Hill area at around 11.30am today (Saturday).

Firefighters were called out and on learning that the woman had hurt her ankle they summoned an ambulance.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The lady was behind a locked gate so the crews used cutting equipment to gain entry through the gate and assist paramedics with moving the lady over uneven terrain into the ambulance."
