A PEOPLE'S Postcode Lottery player in one Somerset street was celebrating after landing £30,000.

The prize was won by Jennie Young, whose postcode of BS23 3JB in Weston-super-Mare, was drawn as the winner of People’s Postcode Lottery’s Street Prize on Saturday.

The 51-year-old got the surprise of her life when People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson knocked on her door with a golden envelope in hand.

She said: “This feels fantastic – once I’ve finished celebrating tonight I’m going to book a three-week holiday in Tenerife as a treat for my daughter who has been studying hard for her GCSEs.”

Jennie might have to spoil another family member with the win, as it’s thanks to her mum that she signed up to play.

“My mum plays and she encouraged me to join because it’s so simple – the £10 a month comes out by Direct Debit so I don’t even need to think about buying tickets," she said.

"It’s also nice to know that you’re helping so many good causes, the winning is just a bonus.”

Danyl said: “I’ve had a brilliant time in Weston-super-Mare presenting Jennie with her well-deserved win.

"I’m thrilled for her and hope she has a fabulous time spending it.

"You never know where I could be visiting next, so make sure you’re signed up and playing with your postcode.”

With a minimum of 32% from every ticket going to charity, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have now raised £301 million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

One nearby charity that players have helped to support is Action for Conservation, which was awarded £20,000 last year to deliver conservation education workshops to secondary school children in the area.
