NEARLY £1,000 has been donated to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance as a thank you for their role in the Chard Carnival crash last year.
The funds, which totalled £902, were raised at a competition organised by Merriott Majorettes, a South Somerset group.
The event was held in August, and a giant cheque recently presented to mark one year since the crash.
Julz Scott, one of the majorette organisers, said: “This year Merriott Majorettes chose The Air Ambulance as their charity of the year, due to our friend needing the use of one last year.
“We’re so grateful for their help and wanted to say thank you.
“We raised an amazing £902. We’re very proud of the amount we raised for this wonderful charity.”
The Merriott Majorettes hold a fundraising majorettes competition every year, nominating a different charity each time to receive the final donation.
Mrs Scott added: “The first year we did brain tumour research and Bristol children’s charity.
“The second we chose Towards Tomorrow Together and St Margaret’s last year.
“This year we wanted to solely thank the air ambulance for what they did.”
