A RUGBY club is in mourning after a member and his wife were among three people killed in a car crash.

Cullompton RFC has informed club members that a vice president, Gerald Greening, and his wife, Lynda, both in their 70s, lost their lives in the tragic incident.

A man in his 20s travelling in another car also died in the crash on the A358 near Ashill at 12.10am on Sunday, while the driver of that vehicle is in hospital in a critical condition in Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

Mr and Mrs Greening were travelling in a Citroen C3, while the other victim was a passenger in a Vauxhall Tigra.

A Facebook post by Cullompton RFC says: "RIP - Gerald & Lynda Greening.

"It is with great sadness that the club have to inform members that Gerald Greening, a Vice President at the club, and his wife Lynda tragically lost their lives on Sunday 11th November in a car accident.

"Once we have details of the funeral arrangements we will let members know.

"Everyone at Cullompton Rugby Club send their sincere condolences to the family at this very sad time."
