A 52-YEAR-OLD man has been ordered to stand trial in the New Year accused of an assault on a woman and an offence of criminal damage.
Kevin John Griffiths, of West Street, Hinton St George, appeared in the dock before Somerset Magistrates, sitting as a domestic violence court at Yeovil.
He was charged that on October 29 at Hinton St George he assaulted the female complainant by beating her. He was also alleged to have destroyed picture frames belonging to her during the same incident
The defendant pleaded not guilty to both allegations, and following a review of the case it was adjourned until January 14 when he must return to the court for a trial to take place.
In the meantime Griffiths was released on bail on condition that he must not go to a specified address in Hinton St George, except on one occasion when accompanied by a police officer to collect personal belongings.
