A 61-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of child grooming offences following an incident in Bridgwater.

Police officers responded to an allegation by a third party and seized equipment as part of the investigation.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "The suspect remains in police custody at this time and will not be returning to his home address.

"No-one else at the property was aware of the behaviour leading to the allegations.'

Police said they were aware that details of the incident had been shared online and on social media, and issued a warning to residents about how this could compromise a potential court case.

The spokesman added: "We remind you that information shared online could compromise future court proceedings and urge you to be responsible.

"Our enquiries continue."
