A NEW smokehouse restaurant which opened in Burnham-on-Sea just five weeks ago is already proving to be a hit with residents, the manager has said.

BBQ Smokehouse opened on the town's High Street in December and offers a variety of smoked meat dishes from ribs and beef brisket to chicken wings, burritos and home comforts including roast dinners.

The eatery is the second restaurant to open in Burnham's High Street in the last month and is just a few doors down from burger bar Patty x Frank.

Jodie Goddard, manager of BBQ Smokehouse, said the restaurant has got off to a busy start and has been a big success.

"We opened the restaurant five weeks ago and so far it has been really good," Jodie said.

"Everyone has been really positive about the food and the decor, it has been great.

"We serve a variety of smoked food including ribs, brisket and wings as well as a variety of sauces, sides and drinks.

"All of our food is smoked and prepared in Highbridge and then distributed to the restaurant in Burnham.

"It has been great to have had such a positive response from people who come in and try our food and great to see customers coming in the door."

The restaurant is the brainchild of brothers, Paul and Dave Ellis, and employs one part time and two full time staff.

The entrepreneurial brothers decided to open the eatery as they wanted to expand their business after the success of their first BBQ Smokehouse restaurant in Weston-super-Mare, which opened in 2017.

Jodie said she has high hopes for the restaurant's future and hopes it will continue to be a success.

She said: "January tends to be a quiet month for restaurants so I am hoping it is going to be booming here in the summer months. "I am looking forward to the future."
