A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital and traffic on the M5 is queueing back to Somerset after a crash closed the motorway near Exeter.
Commuters are being diverted due to crash investigation work between junction 28 (Cullompton) and junction 29 (Exeter/Honiton).
Congestion is stretching back into Somerset, towards junction 25 for Taunton, with traffic exiting causing delays on the slip road and back onto the motorway.

The motorway was closed at around 6.30am following a serious crash involving a lorry and a car.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said a woman was airlifted to Derriford Hospital and three people have been taken to The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by land ambulance.
A diversion is in place, via the B3181 through Cullompton and Broadclyst.
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said three rapid response vehicles, two ambulances and an air ambulance were sent to the incident.
