THE Mayor of Burnham and Highbridge is hosting a charity auction to raise money for three local charities.

Councillor Bill Hancock, mayor of Burnham and Highbridge, is hosting the auction at the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge on February 16 to raise money for Burnham-on-Sea RNLI, BARB Search and Rescue and Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset.

The event is being organised by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and there will be live music from Monopole on the day as well as a raffle and a sit down meal.

An experienced auctioneer will also be encouraging guests to bid high to donate funds to help these important groups.

A spokesman for Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, said: "The Mayor is very keen to support these charities which are all helping Bill with his mayoral theme for this year which is Clean and Safe Beaches.

"The aim is to make sure that the coastline is a safe place for residents and visitors to enjoy as well as being as clean and free of litter and pollution as possible.

"The charities are also working hard to raise awareness of these issues and any funding they receive will help with campaigns, training and equipment."

Tickets cost £10 per person which includes a basket meal.
