SOME primary schools in rural areas of the county are facing disruptions as icy weather continues.

Combe St Nicholas Primary School, near Chard, has announced it will be closed today (January 30) due to the weather.

Tatworth Primary School has announced it is open but will be updating parents throughout the day.

South Somerset Partnership School's chard site is closed, while the Yeovil site is open for students who can walk to school safely. The school has advised against using taxis.

Ashcott Primary School will be opening from 10am.

Wiveliscombe Primary School is open but is suffering with some disruptions.

A spokesman said: "The school is open but classes will be disrupted due to some teaching staff unable to get into school.

"Further snow is forecast for later today and we will update this site should the school have to close."

The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for this week, one which runs until noon today (Wednesday) and another to begin at 3pm tomorrow, running until noon on Friday.

Exford Primary School, near Minehead, has also announced it will be closed today.
