POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of drug offences on the M4 earlier today.
Shortly after 3.30am, one of Wiltshire Police's roads policing officers drove an unmarked vehicle on the M4 westbound near to Membury services heading towards Swindon.
While motoring along, he witnessed a Nissan Qashqai travelling at excessive speed down the motorway.
He pulled the driver over and carried out a roadside drug wipe test which tested positive.
The officer then carried out a search of the driver's vehicle under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
He found a quantity of class B drugs and a small amount of cash inside it.
After finding the drugs, the officer arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a class B drug and drug driving.
He took the suspect to custody at Melksham.
The man has since been released under investigation while the police's enquiries into the incident continue.
