A FIRST responder vehicle on its way to an incident was damaged after being involved in a hit and run collision with a van.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in Chard High Street, near the junction with Crowshute Link.

The Toyota RAV4 was in collision with a white van, which failed to stop after the incident at around 4am on Saturday, February 16.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "The clearly-branded Toyota was left undriveable.

"We’re keen to trace the van driver, anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam or CCTV footage which could help."

Anyone who can help should call 101 giving the call handler the collision reference number 2019/1118.
