VANDALS gouged out the eyes of Taunton’s landmark toads.
The attack took place in Victoria Park in 2009.
Victoria Park Action Group secretary Janet Gamblin, pictured, said 14 trees planted in the community garden had been snapped off as well as the incident involving the toads, which used to be in the town’s Old Market Centre.
She told the County Gazette: “It’s soul destroying. It took us a long time to get the toads into the park after they were removed from the shopping centre and to get the garden up and running.
“We do it for the community, working hard to raise money, and it’s a thankless task when we’re rewarded like this.”
