JOHN Lennon is arguably one half on the greatest song-writing partnership of all time.

On May 19, a show celebrating this legendary music comes to The Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton.

Jimmy Coburn (The Cavern Club; Let It Be; The Sessions at Abbey Road) is performing Imagine – The John Lennon Songbook, a show that showcases all John Lennon’s greatest hits.

He will perform everything from the early days in the Cavern with The Beatles, through to The Plastic Ono Band and of course, Lennon’s incredible solo career.

So how did Jimmy discover his love for John Lennon?

“I’ve always grown up with The Beatles records playing as my Mum and Dad were massive fans” Jimmy explained.

“I was probably about 18 when I first picked up an instrument. When I was about 22, I loved John Lennon’s voice. He sings with so much honesty and emotion.

“The Beatles were an unavoidable phenomenon and are in the life blood of the city in Liverpool. As a musician, I have always aimed for those standards, but you cannot improve on perfection, that’s why I’ve focused on performing this music, the music of a generation. I always felt I had a similar tone to John and being a Scouser helps a lot too. I have also worked hard on the little nuances in his voice.”

Somerset County Gazette:

Jimmy has been involved with The Beatles and John Lennon Mania for over a decade and is a founding member of the world famous “The Cavern Club Beatles”.

Jimmy also has some exciting events planned with the Cavern Club as well.

Jimmy explained: “I’ll soon be heading out to LA with the Cavern Club and The Cavern Club Beatless as part of “BritWeek” and the Cavern Club’s new 60th anniversary documentary film, The Cavern Club: the Beat Goes On, which has been chosen to launch the annual event.”

Following a smash hit run on the West End, Jimmy is thrilled to be taking to the stage once again as his idol, John Lennon.

Jimmy said: “I think keeping the music of John Lennon alive is so important as it keeps his message of peace and love alive, which in today’s world we definitely need!”

This beautifully crafted production features authentic instrumentation, evocative costume and flawless live recreations of John Lennon’s music and promises to wow even the most ardent fan.

Featuring some of the most famous songs ever written including Imagine, Jealous Guy, Give Peace a Chance, Starting Over, Come Together, Strawberry Fields Forever, All You Need Is Love and many more.

This is Jimmy’s first time performing in Taunton and he can’t wait to perform somewhere new.
