MORE than 20 authors from a range of genres drew a large crowd to Chard Library for a series of workshops and book signing events.
The day was called the Somerset Local Author Event and saw a host of authors from across the county come to town, along with Ryan Whittaker and Stevie Kesham from the Chard Bookshop.
Jo Portway, community outreach officer at Chard Library, said: “Local best-selling children’s author Emma Carroll signed her recent book, When We Were Warriors, and Louise Allen, Chard author of The Thrown Away Child, held a memoir writing workshop, amongst many others.
“All the workshops were well attended and there was activities suitable for all ages, including Jesse Mack’s Design A Dragon, and Cherry Cobb’s Code Breaking Workshops for Children.”
More than 200 people attended the event over the course of the day, and a cake sale and raffle helped raise funds for the Friends’ of Chard Library.
Other authors included Izzy Robertson, and Ian O’Neill.
“As a result of the success of this event, we will be running similar events in the future,” Jo added.
Funds raised are going towards the development of a wellbeing zone. This is a space aimed at providing a quiet area for people to meet with others and outside agencies for all health and wellbeing matters.
