A CHARD cafe has received the honour of being one of the town’s first businesses to be nominated for a Muddy Stilettos award.

The top national awards has been running for seven years, four in Somerset, and is designed to pick the best in rural business.

The cafe is Eleos in Fore Street, Chard, which is run by Nat and Sarah Thomson.

This is not the pair’s first brush with awards success, after picking up a prize for best cafe in the south west in 2016.

Nat said: “We got a message saying we had been nominated for the Muddy Stiletto.

“There are two stages, and we need as many nominations as possible to get to the next stage.

“The top five in each sector in the Somerset and Bristol area will go forward to the next stage, which is another public vote.

“We are the only cafe in the Chard area.

“We are really excited to actually be nominated, whether we get through or not is a little irrelevant.

“Since we put it on social media, we have had a lot of lovely feedback.

“Muddy Stilettos is a really good award, and bringing that to Chard would just be another great thing for the town.

“With the success of the disabled strongman competition and the vegan fair - it would be great to bring another positive.”
