A CHARD business is calling on people to get behind them and help bring a prestigious award to the town.

Simon Lunn is the owner of Phoenix Fitness, based on Furnham Road, and has said he is ‘delighted’ to be in the running for a Muddy Stiletto award.

Phoenix Fitness was the only Chard business to get through the first round of nominations, shortlisted as one of Somerset’s top five fitness instructors.

Now he needs your votes if he is to come away with a prize.

Simon said: “I am chuffed, we are all delighted. We have many members that say we don't sing our own praises enough, so this is great for us.

“There are some great small businesses in Chard, and it is an honour to be representing everybody.

“Chard’s small businesses don’t always get the accolades they deserve.”

The business is set to celebrate its 18th birthday later this year.

Simon added: “It is really a business for the town. We do things like working in schools - we were in Redstart the other day.

“We also got a team together to support the disabled strongman and strongwoman competition. It is a real community.”

As well as helping at the British Disabled Strongman competition, which saw a packed out Guildhall, Phoenix Fitness hosts its own events.

“We have a Rotary sponsored event in June, we are hosting the South West Powerlifting Championship in July,” said Simon.

“We try to give wherever possible, and I am always happy to sit down with people and offer advice lifestyle and nutrition, free of charge.

"Here at Phoenix Fitness we cater for everyone, from absolute fitness beginners to regular gym users.

"Male and female fully qualified personal trainers are on the floor to help motivate and support members with their workouts.

"As well as personal training, we also specialise in weight management and can give dietary advice of the highest quality on a one-to-one basis. If you have specific injury rehabilitation requirements, we are here to help you."
