ARE you on the look out for a new hobby?

Bridgwater Bowling Club is inviting people to come along and give bowls a go.

The club based on Durleigh Road, which dates back to 1908, has six outdoor and two indoor bowling rinks, as well as two bar and social areas.

Club president Jeff Capon said: "Bowls is something which helps you keep physically fit, keep the mind active and is also very social.

"It is an enjoyable game for anyone aged nine to 90, but we would like to encourage more younger people to come along - currently about two-thirds of our members are aged 75 or over.

"It is also a hobby you can do all year round too thanks to the indoor rinks."

The club has a rather traditional background as a private bowling club, and for a long time was only open to businessmen which only changed in 1975 - and it wasn't until 2013 that women were allowed to join.

Equipment will be provided for those who come along - and people taking up the sport for the first time will also be able to have three trial lessons with qualified coaches.

People are welcome to just turn up at the club and speak to members, or for further information call the club on 01278 452920.
