AN eco-friendly shop on the outskirts of Ilminster has been given an award.

Trading Post Farm Shop, Lopenhead, has been given the Muddy Stiletto award for best farm shop and deli in Somerset. The Muddy Stilettos lifestyle awards aim to recognise the best in the business across the UK.

They are broken down to regional and national categories. This year more than 15,000 businesses were involved and more than 750,000 votes were cast.

For the second year running, Trading Post Farm Shop took home the award.

Kate and Andy Forbes took over the Trading Post Farm Shop back in November 2017 and after winning the Muddy Award last year they have gone from strength to strength.

In the last 12 months they have opened a west country cheese counter and a self service olives and antipasti station, as well as an artisan chocolate counter filled with English and Belgian chocolates – along with their most recent addition of giant chocolate truffles handmade in Somerset.

The pair say they are passionate about supporting local suppliers.

In the coming weeks they will be installing a self-serve milk machine where customers can get a litre of organic whole milk.

Mrs Forbes said: "Me and Andy want to thank everyone who voted for us.

"If you haven't been in a while, pop along and see what we have done with the place."
