A SMALL family business has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket after thieves broke in over the bank holiday weekend.

The TVS Group, a company offering facilities maintenance service based in Eastover, had power tools, mobile phones and a Ramblers Carnival Club jacket among other items stolen in the raid.

Office manager Natalie France said they believed the thieves must have broken in through the back of the building, the former British Heart Foundation shop, via the scaffolding in place.

"We are just heartbroken really," Mrs France said.

"We are a small family business and have lost equipment worth a lot of money."

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after thieves broke into the former shop under renovation.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "The burglary is believed to have happened overnight on Monday, May 27 to Tuesday, May 28 and was reported just after 8.30am on Tuesday.

"The thieves forced entry and stole a number of power tools."
