SPECULATIVE development specialists Gladman has submitted plans to build 95 new homes in Woolavington.

The new homes would be built on land off Woolavington Road as well as new access, a play area, recreational footpath and new trees and landscaping.

The site covers 4.37ha and is currently used for pastoral agriculture.

A spokesman for Gladman said: "The overall vision for the site is to provide a distinctive and high quality place, which complements the qualities and character of Woolavington.

"The development will create up to 95 dwellings with a range of housing to meet the needs of the area, whilst respecting and enhancing the site’s environmental assets.

"Housing will be set within a robust network of green infrastructure, which will help to integrate development within the landscape and create a distinctive sense of place."

The development will provide a variety of house types ranging from one to five bedrooms, with a mix of market and affordable housing from first time homes to larger family houses.

The remainder of the area will comprise 'green infrastructure' such as recreational space, footpaths, a trim trail, attenuation basins and planting.

Gladman conducted two drop-in session for residents where a number of concerns were raised.

Residents complained about the impact on traffic and the safety of the A39 junction, however Gladman say the Transport Assessment carried out concludes the development 'would not cause a severe impact on the operation of the highway network or highway safety'.

In light of residents concerns over infrastructure, Gladman also states that 'an appropriate financial contribution will be provided to cover the additional school pupils the development will bring', and a contribution to the GP surgery will be made 'if deemed necessary due to the impact of the development on GP capacity'.
