AS we are all aware, Somerset County Cricket Club has been busy preparing the ground in order to host their three matches for the Cricket World Cup and for night-time events.
One development has been the installation of the new floodlights which dominate the local environment and which have changed the landscape dramatically.
These have not been well-received by some Taunton residents.
Perhaps the club could put something back in to the community in the form of sponsorship of a local project?
The last roundabout before visitors to the cricket arrive by road, from the M5 junction 25, is the one adjacent to the Shell garage on Priory Bridge Road. This has been particularly drab and uncared for since it was enlarged as part of the new bridge over the river.
Somerset CCC could sponsor the creation, and subsequent maintenance, of a cricket-themed display on this roundabout.
This would be the perfect welcome to Taunton for supporters coming to a game.
