THERE were major delays on the M5 in Somerset this afternoon due to a fallen telegraph pole.
The M5 was closed in both directions between J23 A39 (Bridgwater North) to J22 (Burnham-On-Sea).
This caused severe delays for motorists on the M5 as well as heavy congestion on the A38 though North Petherton, Bridgwater, Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea.
All lanes are now re-open but traffic problems in the area took a long time to clear.
Highways England have issued an update saying Western Power have now finished their work and the carriageway closures have been removed.
A Highways England spokesman said: "Please note that traffic will take a long time to clear."
