A TAUNTON woman has been accused of using the bank card of a pre-school where she was the business manager to buy items for herself.
Clare Cleverly, 40, of Greenway Road, made no plea when she appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court last Thursday facing a charge of fraud.
The court heard she is alleged to have committed the offence at the town's Comeytrowe Under Fives Pre-School.
She is charged with fraud while occupying a position in which she was expected to safeguard, or not act against, the financial interests of the pre-school, which is a charity.
It is alleged she intended to make a gain for herself by making personal purchases for herself on the bank card and dishonestly abused her position.
Cleverly was remanded on unconditional bail until August 22, when she must appear in the same court again.
Comeytrowe Under Fives Pre-School meets on weekdays at Comeytrowe Community Hall, in Pitt's Close, Galmington.
