A BIG change is underfoot at one of the area's most popular restaurants.

Clavelshay Barn, in North Petherton, will "close its doors as a restaurant in its current form" next month.

Owner Sue Milverton says that after lunch on Sunday, September 1, it will only open for private functions such as parties and weddings, and special events such as pop-up suppers and guest chef dinners.

She said: "After 14 happy, successful and hectic years, I have decided that it is time for me to step back and take some time off to spend with my family.

"As you may know, I am a keen photographer and would also like to be able to pursue this further.

"This means that Clavelshay Barn will close its doors as a restaurant, in its current form, after serving lunch on Sunday 1 September 2019.

"However, it is not the end, just a new direction."

The owners will also be running workshops connecting nature, art and food.

Head chef John Godfrey will be leaving for a new job to further his career.

Sue said: "Although the end of this era is approaching, we are still very much open for business and committed to serving award winning food."
