AN 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Yeovil.

The 48-year-old woman was stabbed with a sharp object as she was walking near the junction of St Michael's Avenue and Sherborne Road at around 3am yesterday (August 24).

Her injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said an 18-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody for questioning.

The spokesman said: "We’re still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
