TAUNTON Town have been handed an away draw in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The draw, made this lunchtime, sees the Peacocks up against either Winchester City or AFC Stoneham, who drew their meeting 1-1 on Saturday.

Winchester play in Division 1 South of the Bet Victor Southern League (one flight below Taunton), while Stoneham are in the Wessex League Premier Division.

The replay, at Stoneham, is set to take place on Tuesday, September 3, with first round qualifying ties held over the weekend of September 6-9.

TAUNTON Town head of football Rob Dray said his team have not done anything too different in their run of three consecutive wins, despite the dramatic turnaround in results.

Beaten 3-0 and 4-0 in their opening two games, the Peacocks made it three victories in a row by beating Tiverton Town 3-1 on Monday.

Dray said: "I don't think we've done anything too dramatically different, just our shape is a little more nailed on now and there's a bit more familiarity.

"But I think it was a case of a little tweak here and there, nothing dramatic.

"It feels a lot better, though there's still one or two things that aren't quite right.

"I think the biggest problem for us as a management team is the number of good players who aren't in the squad, which speaks volumes.

"But that's something we've got to deal with, and something we need, because we've got midweek games right through September and the FA Cup next week, so people are going to be needed and players will play."

Dray also hailed the contribution of Zac Smith and Harry Kite, the loanees from Bristol City and Exeter City, respectively.

After Smith scored against Tiverton, and Kite provided an assist, Dray said: "They were outstanding again.

"Their attitude to come in when it's not their club, and what Bristol City and Exeter have instilled in these lads, is quite something.

"Zac is a special player, for me. And he's a very grounded lad, very humble.

"The mileage that Harry covers is fantastic.

"So I'm very pleased with them, but I think as a group we've been outstanding over this weekend – scored six, conceded one, I can't ask any more of them."

There was also praise for Shane White, who has moved from defence into midfield and scored the second goal on Monday.

"He's so good Shane, because he gives you 8/10 every week, whatever position he plays," said Dray.

"Again, he's just an honest lad who wants to play football, he's fantastic."

And Dray is also pleased with the pressing and hassling of opposition players by his team, adding: "Something we've been keen to do, and we've seen in the last two games, is getting the ball back high in the opposition half.

"When we've got Zac, Harry, Rocky [Neal] and Wrighty [Matt Wright] all working hard, and the wing-backs getting high up the pitch, it makes it very difficult for teams."
