MYSTERIES and ciphers lie at the heart of the latest exhibition at Ilminster Arts Centre, which opens on Monday, September 9.
Presented by the talented contemporary textile artists of South West Textiles Group, ‘Secrets and Codes’ has been created in response to the 100th Anniversary of the founding of G.C.H.Q., and focuses on the intrigues that ‘Secrets and Codes’ inspire.
Members of the group have responded individually to the theme, bringing their own personalities and perspectives to work that ranges from humorous to historic.
The pieces come together as a stimulating group exhibition using a broad range of techniques including weaving, printing, stitching and felting.
South West Textiles consists of about 35 dedicated and talented textile artists, which aims to promote public awareness of textile arts by exhibiting members’ work.
This talented group offers wide ranging textile art forms from tapestry weaving, hand and machine embroidery, patchwork and more.
Admission to the ‘Secrets and Codes’ exhibition, which runs until Saturday 5 October, is free. To find out more visit themeetinghouse.org.uk
