A CRASH on the A303 between a lorry and a car is causing delays.
The incident happened at around 1.30pm today (Friday, September 6) at the Eagle Tavern, near Buckland St Mary, and the eastbound carriageway is partially blocked near the Newtown junction.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue has been on the scene and urged drivers to avoid the area if possible.
The A303 road is closed Eastbound between Southfields Roundabout and the junction for the A30 due to the serious accident which has also caused an oil spillage.
There is congestion to Ilminster Bypass, all the surrounding routes around Chard are heavily congested as traffic diverts around the closure.
As of 7pm, traffic is repoortedly coping well and normal traffic condtions are expected to resume at around 10pm.
