THE family of a vulnerable Bridgwater grandfather have set up a fundraising page and are appealing for donations so they can do 'whatever it takes' to find him.

Phil Pearce, 68, of Bridgwater, was last seen leaving a police station in Benidorm in the early hours of September 10.

Members of Phil's family including his two sons, Wayne and Lee, and daughter-in-law Louise, have flown out to Spain to help with the search for the Bridgwater pensioner, who was on holiday in the city but he has not been found.

The family have set up and a fundraising page and are trying to raise £5,000 to help fund a search party, and say they will use the money to help fund hospital care, accommodation and a flight home for Phil if he is found safe and well.

Louise Pearce, Phil's daughter-in-law, said: "Our daughter, Lottie, set up the page to ask for support in the search for Phil, a search party or a last resort a private investigator or whatever it takes to find him.

"Her role in the search has been pivotal despite her remaining at home. She's worked very hard.

"Members of the public in England have continued to share our posts.

"English people in Spain have been amazing, one lady saw someone try to take down a poster and she approached him telling him we have Spanish police authority and basically shooed him away.

"My husband, Wayne, and I went out to Benidorm and then Lee joined to add in the search which has been unsuccessful.

"Phil's disappearance has obviously caused stress and tension. We want to know where he is, he can't just disappear of the face of the earth."

The family's fundraising appeal has already raised £1,150 and Louise said she will be flying out to Benidorm on Monday (September 30) to continue searching for Phil.

She urged anyone who see's Phil to message her or call 112 immediately and said

"I would ask anyone who sees Phil to message us immediately or call the 112 the emergency line," Louise said.

"We have all been receiving messages from people they have seen Phil but it was hours or days prior.

"He will engage with you if you chat, he's a very social man.

"Buy him a drink or dinner, we will refund your money it bides us a little time to get to him.

"We never knew how huge Benidorm was so it might take us some time to get there.

"We would like to say a huge thank you for everyone's support.

"Its been both encouraging and supportive and without it we'd probably of lost hope by now."
