TWO mums have raised more than £5,000 for women’s cancer charities after completing a cycle ride from London to Paris.

Lucinda Eames from Chard and Abbi Irving-Bell, of Bridport, joined 60 women taking on the epic trip in aid of Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

They cycled 85 miles a day for three days, starting at Hampton Court and finishing at the Eiffel Tower.

The mums signed up after completing a 100km ride through London at night last year, inspired by a friend who had recovered from cervical cancer.

Abbi said: ‘Cycling to Paris was very daunting. We committed a lot of time to training and be fit enough to cope with the hills, but it was worth it to raise so much money for such a worthy cause.’

The friends raised half the money with a curry and quiz night, attended by 100 people.

Lucinda said: ‘We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and came to our curry evening and coffee mornings.”
