A BURNHAM-on-Sea woman said she was ‘sickened’ when she discovered tools had been stolen from her van just metres from where she slept in her home.

Sarah Glaysher, who runs Glaysher Landscaping with her husband, Tony, was sleeping in her home in Broadhurst Gardens last Thursday (December 5) when a number of power tools were stolen by a thief from her Ford Transit tipper truck at around 3.30am.

In a bid to catch the thief Sarah posted CCTV footage and images of the incident on social media and reported the issue to the police but she said sadly the culprit has not been caught.

Sarah, who also runs Prim and Proper, a hair salon in Burnham, said: “We are just disgusted that someone driving a fairly new 4x4 has the audacity to steal from hard working people.

“As a rule the truck is emptied everyday however family work and family commitments sometimes get in the way.

“Makita Drills, a chop saw, a sander, an impact tool, a nail gun and an angle grinder were all stolen from our Ford Transit tipper truck.

“The tipper truck also needs a new driver door and lock as the lock was cut around a circular hole cut out below the lock.

“I have two young children at home we have done our best for them not to see or hear what’s happened.

“It’s a busy time of year and this is the last thing we need.”

Sarah said she has also distributed posters with the CCTV images of the incident on them to shops and businesses in Burnham to raise awareness and would urge anyone with information about the incident to get in touch with her at Prim & Proper, Glaysher Landscaping or to contact the police.

Sarah added: “I would urge people to be vigilant, get CCTV and alarms and to not leave anything in the vehicle when it is not in use.

“Please report the incident, if people aren’t aware nothing can be done and this person will not be caught.

“We all need to pull together and find him.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said they would urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

“The overnight theft of tools from a Ford Transit tipper truck parked in Broadhurst Gardens, Burnham-on-Sea, was reported to police just before 8am on Thursday 5 December,” the spokesperson said.

“The stolen items include drills, a chop saw, sander, impact tool and angle grinder (Makita-brand); two Stihl drills and a Paslo nail gun.

“Officers are keen to hear from anyone with information which could help, especially if they have the registration number of a car seen acting suspiciously in the area.

“If you can help get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk, or call 101, quoting reference 5219280648.”
