A HIGHBRIDGE school has announced it will be closed for the rest of the week due to a 'flu outbreak.'

In a tweet to parents on Wednesday (December 11) The King Alfred School Academy said they have made the 'difficult decision' to close the school on Thursday and Friday (December 12-13) after receiving advice.

The tweet said: "Due to the flu outbreak that we are currently facing in the community, we have made the decision to close the school on Thursday and Friday this week (December 12 and 13) this includes the postponement of Year 10 parents evening.

"We have made this difficult decision following advice, in order to deep clean the school and take all necessary precautions.

"We anticipate that school will be open as usual on Monday. Please refer to the school website and social media for updates."
