MORE than 70 members of Burnham’s Moose International lodge celebrated the new year with a special Burn’s Night celebration.

On Saturday (January 25) members gathered in Berrow Village Hall and watched as Moose governor Brian Hood and lodge webmaster Martyn Ely carried the ceremonial haggis on a silver tray.

After the haggis arrived in the front of the hall Brian addressed the Haggis in his Scottish brogue, before visitors sat down for dinner

Volunteers put on a fantastic spread for visitors which included haggis and cottage pie as well as delicious cream trifles and hosted a raffle which raised £157 for Moose International supported charities.

Visitors then enjoyed a live performance of traditional Scottish music from lodge treasurer Gareth Griffith and a three round Scottish based quiz.

A spokesperson for Moose International, said the event was a big success.

“We had a fantastic time at our Burn’s Night celebration to see in the New Year and would like to thank everyone who attended,” the spokesperson said.

“It was a great way to see in the new year and we are looking forward to hosting more events this year.”
