THERE was no fixture for Burnham-on-Sea RFC's 1st XI on Saturday, but Burnham 2nds did have a game, travelling to Wyvern for a Somerset 2 South fixture.
The hosts prevailed 32-22, after a see-saw affair in Taunton.
Will Hopkins and Ryan Beard scored tries to give Burnham a 12-0 lead, but they trailed 19-17 at half-time.
The Stags were playing catch-up throughout the second half, pulling it back to 27-22 with 15 minutes to go, but Wyvern sealed the win with a late try.
Burnham sit ninth in the table and this Saturday sees them entertain runaway leaders Morganians.
As for Burnham 1sts, their unbeaten record looks set to come in for a stern examination on Saturday, as the Stags head to third-placed Minehead Barbarians.
Burnham have claimed 17 wins from 17 league games so far this season and, while they had the weekend off, they were boosted by second-placed Nailsea & Backwell losing at Avon.
The Stags have a 22-point advantage over Nailsea, with Minehead a further four points behind, albeit with a game in hand.
The reverse fixture in October finished 19-10 to Burnham, although the Barbarians will take confidence from a 29-7 win away to Old Redcliffians 2nds last time out.
