A DOUBLE decker bus was severely damaged in a fire this afternoon (Friday).

Firer crews from Burnham-on-Sea, Bridgwater and Cheddar attended the blaze on the M5 northbound between Junctions 22 for Burnham and 21.

The incident took place at 1.43pm.

One lane of the motorway has been closed.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "One fire appliance from Burnham on Sea, one from Bridgwater and one from Cheddar along with the Water Carrier from Bridgwater were all sent to a report of a bus on fire at the above location.

"The double decker bus was severely damaged by fire and crews used one hose reel jet and two compressed air foam branches to deal with the incident."
