A SECTION of the M5 was closed for several hours from yesterday evening.
The motorway between Junction 22 for Burnham-on-Sea and 23 for Bridgwater remained closed from shortly after 7pm until around 4am today due to an "electrical fire".
A diversion was set up via the A38 while Western Power workers dealt with a fallen live 30,000 volt cable across the carriageway.
Firefighters were also sent to the scene and helped make the area safe.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
The motorway is now re-opened.
