A SELECTION of classic, vintage and race motorcycles will go under the hammer in the Charterhouse auction later this month - including a TT-winning sidecar.

The sale will take place on Thursday, August 27, with vehicles estimated to sell for more than £800,000.

“We were due to be having the auction in conjunction with the Isle of Man Government at this year’s Classic TT, but sadly like so many events this was cancelled months ago due to Covid-19,” said Charterhouse's Richard Bromell.

“We already had some great bikes lined up and moved these entries to the re-scheduled auction on August 27.”

Included in the auction are barn stored basket cases to TT and World Championship winning machines estimated from under £1,000 to £200,000, so there is pretty much something for everyone.

The auction, which is being held online with telephone and absentee bidding, includes a wide range of bikes including Ducati, Norton, Triumph, BSA, Triumph, NSU, BMW, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Velocette, Rickman, Maxton, Suzuki, Ariel, Matchless, Triton and Kreidler van Veen, among others.

Charterhouse is now accepting entries for this auction of classic, race and vintage motorcycles with a selection of automobilia on August 27, followed by coins, medals, stamps, clocks and collector’s items on September 3 and 4, and classic and vintage cars on September 23.

The Charterhouse auction of the contents of the New Inn at Priddy (BA5 3BB) near Bristol, is also taking place this month.

There sale features country antiques, pictures, taxidermy, other decorative items and even a set of Banksy limited edition prints, on Saturday August 29.
