Highways England advises that all lanes are now open again.
THE westbound carriageway is now fully open, but one lane of the eastbound carriageway remains closed.
A SECTION of a major road in Somerset road is currently closed due to a "serious accident".
The road is closed eastbound, while it is down to a single lane in the other direction.
Emergency services are at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on the A303 at Wincanton, near the Wiltshire border.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "Police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene of a single vehicle collision at the A303 Wincanton, near the Wiltshire border.
"The road is currently closed in the eastbound direction and down to a single lane westbound. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible."
A Highways Agency spokesman said: "Avon and Somerset Police are attending a serious incident...updates to follow."
