Contents of stunning Somerset manor house to go under the hammer: See inside

On Thursday and Friday, October 1 and 2, the contents of the house, near Bridgwater, will go under the hammer.

It was formerly owned by an antiques dealer, with the interior packed with items she could not bear to sell.

“It is a beautiful looking property which in part dates back to the 15th century,” said auctioneer Richard Bromell, from Sherborne-based Charterhouse.

“We were invited to the house, which is near Bridgwater, to advise on disposing of the contents as a family member had moved into care and the house was being sold.”

Removed to the Charterhouse salerooms in Sherborne from the Somerset manor house is an eclectic selection of items.

The contents were amassed over a period of nearly 50 years by the owner, who had been an antiques dealer.

She kept all her favourite pieces in the house which she could not bring herself to sell at the time.

This Manor House was furnished with a traditional country house look.

There is 17th century and later oak furniture, there are stuffed animals, clocks, pictures, books, ceramics, glass, copper and brass, all of which is going under the Charterhouse gavel.

Overall the contents are estimated to sell for between £15,000 and £20,000.

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for their autumn programme of auction including classic and vintage cars on September 23, the Manor House contents with other pictures, books, sporting items and Beswick on October 1 and 2, which is then followed by classic and vintage motorcycles on October 28.
