A CONFIRMED case of Covid-19 has been reported at Northallerton School and Sixth Form College.

Parents of all students at the school have today received a letter informing them that the school has been advised by Public Health England there has been a "confirmed case" within the school.

It is believed to be a member of staff who has been affected, but the school has reassured parents that the students who have been in "direct, prolonged contact" with the case have been told individually and will be self-isolating for 14 days.

The letter, from headteacher Vicki Rahn, goes on to advise parents that the school remains open and all students should attend as long as they feel well.

It adds that anyone with symptoms should self-isolate for 10 days, along with other members of the household who should not go to work or school, or mix with other households.

The school did not wish to comment further when contacted by The Northern Echo.
