CRICKET fans were hit for six when a collection of memorabilia and associated items went under the hammer recently - including a copy of the Wisden's Almanack which sold for a whopping £1,800.
A comprehensive collection of Wisden Cricket Almanacks attracted huge interest during a recent sale at Lawrences of Crewkerne.
Entered for sale by a client near Crewkerne, the Wisden’s had been collected by his grandfather from new - and ran from 1900 to 1969.
Split into a variety of lots the collection made more than £8,000, with highlights including a rare 1918 hardback edition produced during WW1, which made £1,800 (plus buyer's premium).
Lawrences auctioneer, Simon Jones, said: "This was a pleasure to deal with, to have a collection all bought from new and still be in the family was amazing.
"We were inundated with enquiries and I am sure they have all gone to good homes."
