THERE were 60 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in Somerset in the latest seven-day figures.

South Somerset recorded 25 positive tests over that period, taking its overall total since the pandemic began to1,530.

There were a further 17 confirmed cases in Somerset West and Taunton, where the overall total has risen to 1,527.

Sedgemoor had nine positive tests for an overall total of 1,566.

And there were also nine new confirmed cases in Mendip, which now totals 932 cases,

The seven-day rate of infection inched up in three of the four districts - South Somerset had 161 new confirmed cases in the weekly figure, giving it a rate of 95.6 per 100,000.

SWT had 108 positive tests for a rate of 69.6 per 100,000.

Sedgemoor had 126 cases at a rate of 102.3.

Mendip dipped slighty, with its 121 cases giving it an infection rate of 104.7 per 100,000.
