NEW parking arrangements are set to start from Monday (February 22) in Yeovil.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, South Somerset District Council (SSDC) and Somerset County Council have agreed new parking arrangements in Middle Street, Union Street and Peter Street.

The temporary flower troughs will be moved from the North side of Middle Street (Marks and Spencer's side) to the south side (WH Smiths side). This means more designated blue badge bays will become available.

"The designated blue badge holder bays created in Union Street will be retained for this trial period and an additional on street space created in Peter Street," said a spokesperson for SSDC.

"And a weight limit of 7.5 tonnes is being applied to Middle Street and Union Street to support these changes.

"We are also exploring an expansion of designated blue badge bays in our Peter Street car park which will be the subject of a future report to our District Executive.

"This proposal will seek to maintain a balance of bays for the short term visitors to the town."

This trial will last for six months and start on February 22.
