THERE have been 53 new Covid-19 cases in four Somerset districts in the past 24-hours - and sadly four deaths.
South Somerset saw the largest increase with 16 positive tests, while both Somerset West and Taunton and Mendip had just 12. Sedgemoor has 13 new cases.
The infection rate (based on the most recent seven-day rolling figures) has fallen in all districts, apart from Sedgemoor, which has a rate of 115.3 (up from 112.8).
Mendip has an infection rate of 60.6 (down from 64) and Somerset West and Taunton's is 81.9 (down from 85.1). And South Somerset still has the lowest rate of infection, at 56.4 (down from 59.4).
There have also sadly been four deaths (those who have died within 28 days of positive test) in Somerset. Two in Somerset West and Taunton and two in Mendip.
