A TEAM of motorbike enthusiasts - who delivered 'pamper hampers' to paramedic stations in Somerset last year - are still working hard to raise money to help people in Somerset.

Cruise4Crews, made up of bikers who all work at Pattemores Transport in Crewkerne, continued to fundraise after the 'pamper hampers' delivery by hosting community raffles.

Last year, the team visited cider makers in the South West to ask for donations to use in a raffle before Christmas.

The money raised was given to YFW Blood Bikes.

Mike Matthews, one of the organisers of the group, said: "We had an amazing response and so we ended up with a lot of cider.

"So we thought 'what goes great with cider and is a westcountry product' and we decided to approach cheese producers to go with the cider prizes.

"We ended up with a lovely Cheese n' Cider raffle held on a wet and windy evening in Ilminster square.

"We invited Ilminster Mayor, Councillor Phillip Burton, and a couple of people from YFW Blood Bikers to do the draw for us. "

The raffle raised an incredible £850 for YFW Blood Bikes - an emergency volunteer service run by Yeovil Freewheelers, which supports Yeovil District Hospital, Dorset County Hospital and the community hospitals across the region.

They provide emergency courier services for blood, platelets, blood and tissue samples, medication, breast milk, documents, X rays, CT scans, and equipment.

But the Cruise4Crews team did not stop there, and are now arranging another raffle to raise funds for YFW Blood Bikes.

Over the last few months, the team have approached many different companies for a grand summer raffle.

"The prize list includes tickets to music festivals, truck shows, rib ride, haunted prison, vineyard tour, distillery tour, beauty treatments, meat vouchers, food vouchers, wooden bench, a two night stay in Cornwall...and the list goes on," added Mike.

"We have information about all the prizes we have revealed so far and information about how to purchase tickets on our Facebook page."
