A WOMAN was rescued from a car after a crash last night (April 4).

The collision happened near the Half Moon Inn, Horsington, near Templecombe around 6.30pm.

A man was also in the vehicle but managed to get free before fire crews arrived. Both were taken to hopsital via land ambulance.

"Two fire engines from Wincanton and Castle Cary along with the rescue tender and support pump from Glastonbury and a fire officer attended a road traffic collision where one female was trapped," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.

"Crews got to work with hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to remove the door.

"A full roof removal was then carried out for the ambulance crews to assess the casualty.

"The patient was removed from the car onto a long board and then to a stretcher before she was conveyed to hospital by land ambulance along with the male casualty also."
